I’ve mentioned before in videos that I was once told that I have an extremely low reading comprehension speed. Meaning that, of the people who are of my age range and education level, I am extremely below average in my ability to simultaneously read fast and understand what I am reading. It takes me twice as long to finish a paragraph compared to others.
For a very long time, I let this news define a part of who I was and convinced myself that I did not possess the skill to devour novels and so I avoided reading at all costs. Until last year, I was invited to stay a night in at the getaway cabins where I had no access to the internet. There was a one book there to keep me company. To pass the time in the wilderness, I read the entire book in one night. It made me realize that reading is a skill I have and can improve under certain conditions.
In April, I decided that my cabin experiment was enough evidence for me to believe I could change my outlook on books. I decided to task myself with reading 12 books throughout the year and have already surpassed that in 3 months. I’m now on my 16th book of the year! I’ve been completely obsessed with reading mainly because I have been thrifting the best books at GOODWILL!
In the video below, I share with you about 30 books that I have picked up for one to two dollars each. Novels that are currently best sellers and classics! I’m so obsessed there might be another haul coming along the way in a few weeks…
