Skincare has always been my least favorite aspect of the beauty process. Even though I love that my skins becomes fresh and clean, I prefer the pretty pinks and rebellious reds of makeup. In reality, makeup doesn’t work if it doesn’t have a clean surface to go on, which can cause fading, clumping and buildup. I’ve noticed a huge difference when I apply my makeup with a fresh face versus a gunky one.
To give you an overview of my skin, I have normal to combination skin with dry patches around my cheeks and oily patches on my nose, chin and forehead. I have never really suffered from pimples beside the odd one when I eat too much chocolate. I suffer a lot from blackheads and whiteheads. They’re the worst because they make my makeup look super gross and I have to constantly physically extract them or use way too many masks.
I’ve purchased tons of cleansers from Soap & Glory, Oskia, Liz Earl, and Glossier. I’ve loved all of them in different ways but none of them made me love skincare. I’ve also tried an endless amount of face masks such as Lush, Origins and Glamglow. I loved a lot of them but they never seemed to give me the immediate results I wanted. Needless to say, the hunt to find the perfect products has been hard.
Some people do a twelve step routine everyday twice a day. Power to them for making it a priority. However, this is why I’ve never been into skincare routines is because it takes so much time. Time that I could be using to study or prepare for a project or read a book. As someone who literally slaps on makeup in about 5 minutes, I can’t bother to faff around with all these bottles, caps, jars and cloths.
This is why I’ve simplified my skincare routine by finding products that work and only need to be used for 2 minutes or less. My current routine includes four products and easy 5 steps. In the video below, I walk you through the products and the routine that has made me enjoy doing my skincare routine and has made huge results in my skin by smoothing it out and removing my blackheads.
